Being a travel blogger I have the privilege to travel and get intruded to new cultures, languages and cuisines. Even though I have been to many South Asian countries, Vietnam is a place that is still on my wish list.
So when Rupali Dean, my friend and a popular food critic invited me for an evening at the newly launched Vietnom in Gurgaon, I was super excited. Viet:Nom is one of the few restaurants serving Vietnamese cuisine in Delhi. Located at Gurgaon’s restaurant hotspot DLF Cyber Hub, Viet:Nom is brainchild of Manish Sharma.
Our evening started with some customized cocktails. It was an all ladies evening at Viet:Nom with its theme of ‘Women Empowerment’. Over a six course meal I was introduced to the rich flavors of Vietnamese cuisine, improvised in a way that would appeal to Indian tastebuds.
We started with the fresh vegetables summer rolls and the delish healthy rolls were an indication how good the food would be. Chicken and water chestnut spring rolls, Seafood Salad and variety of dim sums followed. The showstopper was of course the Homemade Pho, aromatic rice noodles soup with a light vegetable or chicken broth. The fresh herbs added to the lingering taste of the dish.
The key to Viet:Nom’s good food is their emphasis on ingredients. Rupali Dean along with Chef Vaibhav Bhargav travelled to Vietnam before the launch of the restaurant to ensure that Delhi diners experience the authentic flavours. With their meticulous research they have been able to create a menu and source ingredients that make food at Viet:Nom an absolute delight.
On menu are some interesting small plates as well and an item worth mentioning here is the Roll It- Shrimp Mousse on Sugarcane Skewers. The must try items include signature dish La Lot ( Chicken wrapped in betel leaves with peanut sauce) and Hot Pot Fish. The mains menu is an elaborate one and has many options for vegetarians too. Chicken Mango Curry and Vietnom Vegetable Curry is what I loved from the menu.
Viet:Nom has got everything right- food, ambience, music and staff that goes an extra mile to make it an experience that every epicurean would love. The well stocked bar and cocktails with a twist ensure that diners have plenty of tipple to choose from. Their bartender Mahendra Mahy concocts and serves drinks with a lot of passion.
I am going back to Viet:Nom for sure, albeit with my man this time. The food is healthy so even after a six course meal you wouldn’t feel guilty.
Summary:Vietnom is a must visit restaurant that serves flavourful and delish Vietnamese cuisine.
