“Wrapped in shea-butter I slept like a baby, as my skin soaked in the pleasures of Mediterranean pampering.”
The Amaltas Spa by L’OCCITANE located in the newly launched ANYA Hotel in Gurgaon had a tough job to impress me as I had very high expectations from it. I swear by L’OCCITANE products but whether the spa would be able to replicate that in its spa service too is what I wanted to see. Without building the suspense let me tell you- the spa exceeded my expectations.
Back after a long holiday, jet lagged and tanned, my skin needed an anti-tan treatment. The spa manager Suyash Singh promptly suggested the Shea Ultra-Rich Softening Body Wrap followed by a massage of my choice. I prefer medium pressure, besides the fact that I have a thing for spa specialities, so I chose the Amaltas Signature body treatment.
It was my first time getting a body wrap and the experience was beyond words. The shea butter is smeared all over the body and you are wrapped in a disposable cloth. Meanwhile the therapist massages your hair and gives a quick foot massage. The treatment is ideal for dry, sun-damaged or overworked skin. Shea butter and grape seed oil helps in nourishing while honey extracts help in moisturizing. My skin felt better right after the treatment.
Next was the Amaltas Awakening, the signature massage that uses a blend of Amaltas flower essential oil and the Aromachologie oil that helps in relaxing. My therapist Wonchi told me that the massage that uses Swedish, Balinese and acupressure techniques also helps in giving a metabolic boost and is ideal for the weary traveller. Yes just what I needed! The spa keeps the traditions intact. I wasn’t cajoled into a shower or steam, the therapist suggested I let the body soak the oils.
The therapists at this spa are well trained, products of course top notch and they know the art of working on weary bodies. The sunny cheerful interiors lend a contemporary chic look to the spa. A word of caution though if you are looking for a lavish ambience then remember this spa is located in a city hotel and not resort. Amaltas Spa houses four indoor treatment rooms with private steam and shower chambers and has two couple suites too.
I have experienced treatments at other international spa brands in India like ESPA (at the Leela, Udaipur and the Ritz Carlton Bengaluru) and Banyan Tree (which earlier had a tie-up with the luxury hotel chain The Oberoi Group ). Both the experiences were impeccable and whenever somebody asks me about my best spa experiences the two qualify. I am glad that I have a new addition to that list- The Amaltas Spa by L’OCCITANE.
