On a Friday evening post work I headed to one of the newest nightclubs in town- The Orb at Radisson Blu Plaza New Delhi, Mahipalpur. With some great ladies to chill with, engaging conversations, cocktails and delish finger food, this new avant-garde bar proved to be the perfect place for unwinding.
It’s not tough to find good tipple in this city nor do we have dearth of nightclubs. But The Orb is a package- good music, lip smacking food ( that most nightclubs fail to serve), great cocktails and impeccable hospitality of a five star.
The Cocktail Scene: Beer might be your best friend and scotch your alibi, but we suggest you ditch these neat ones for cocktails at The Orb because the mixologists here have concocted some innovative cocktails that you would want to repeat. If you are at the Orb you have to have to try their signature cocktails that are quirky and eclectic.
I tried their Pale Lady on the Beach, Apple Cinnamon Cocktail and ‘Khopri’ that comes in a skull glass. At The Orb desi flavors are mixed with international beverages to concoct cocktails that are unusual but palatable. One of the managers at the hotel tells me that , “ the bar will see some unorthodox concoctions from International mixologist Joseph Boroski of Bar & Hospitality School, Bangkok; and Indian Expert Yangdup Lama of Cocktails & Dreams, New Delhi which highlights their inspirations from India as a source of exotic herbs and spices.”
Still if you plan to skip their cocktails the wine and scotch collection is great too.
Food: It’s not like there is a dearth of good bars in Delhi , but good bars that serve sumptuous food..thats rare! The Orb gets full five stars for its food. From sushi to pizza to prawn fitters.. the menu is elaborate and every item on the menu is perfectly done by the Chef. Just like cocktails, the food is fun and innovative too. Try their roasted Beetroot salad, paneer mushroom pinwheel or the good ol’ achari fish tikka. There are host of desserts as well to gorge on. I particularly loved their Hazelnut Mouse Fudge, chocolate Ganache. The plating and presentation too has been done in a chic-bar manner.
Music: The Orb also serves the ‘food-for-soul’ with elan. Every evening there are live DJ performances to keep the guests in an upbeat mood, but its Wednesday and Friday nights which have six to eight special performances. The line-up of artists includes names like Winston Balman, Akash Vincent, Calvin Wumbaya, Bhavyaraj, Super Soup, and Misplaced Triology among others.
Radisson Blu New Delhi already houses city’s most popular Thai and kebab restaurants- Neung Roi and The Great Kebab Factory respectively. These restaurants are an address in themselves and many repeat customers to boast off. The Orb in no time is set to join this list becoming the go-to bar of the town.
Our Verdict? It’s a safe joint for ladies where they can let their hair down, so whats there to not love about The Orb.
