Striking colours, swanky décor, peppy music, a real Cessna hanging from the ceiling – one wouldn’t typically associate the imagery with a business hotel. Breaking away from cookie-cutter hotels, here’s Aloft Bengaluru offering all this and much more. Full of pleasantly surprising elements, the 191-room hotel brings in a breath of fresh air in the segment that typically caters to busy corporate travellers.
Distinct from usual midscale hotels, Aloft Bengaluru Cessna Business Park is also different from other Aloft hotels. Sixth Aloft in India and second in Bengaluru (after the one in Whitefield), this is the first one managed by the Starwood Group while others are franchises.
Located in the centre of Bengaluru’s one of the busy IT hubs (Sarjapur), Aloft accurately catches the pulse of young, techy, outgoing travellers. While it addresses all the needs of a corporate visitor (with high-speed free internet connectivity, large meeting spaces with state-of-the-art facilities including a Ballroom with 5,000 sq. ft. banqueting area, etc.), it pays close attention to their relaxation time. The options to unwind are aplenty: sit on the comfortable, vibrant sofas in the lobby and play a board game or a game of pool; enjoy a drink at the Re:mix lounge and live music (every Friday) by emerging bands at the w xyz bar; revive yourself at Re:charge fitness centre or dive into ‘Splash’ pool.
But more than the facilities, it is the young vibe of the hotel that makes one’s experience distinct. You catch the vibe right at the time of check-in at the front desk, which is a circular centre right in the middle of the pulsating lobby. Playful furniture, art work using bold colours by Thota Tharrani, perky music further add to the appeal.
The rooms are delightfully spacious and have 9-feet high ceilings. Colourful décor, comfortable bed, expansive workspace, large storage space – all make for a pleasant stay. A unique addition to the coffee/tea tray is the on the go coffee glass along with powdered coffee pack. The rooms are a techie’s delight with plug-and-play option connecting the television to most electronic devices. Walk-in shower, however, isn’t something everyone might find appeasing. 13 suites, especially Presidential, are of course breathtaking.
Hurried travellers or visitors from nearby offices can ‘grab-and-go’ food and beverage from Re:fuel, a 24-hour café. Nook is the other restaurant that offers Indian as well as international food options. While the food is enjoyable, it is not its strongest selling point.
It’s strength simply lies in the easy air created with chic design, use of technology, and young, friendly staff — implementing the brand’s aim to offer “a place where energy flows, personalities mingle, and opportunities abound.”
