No matter how many times you visit the Taj Mahal it evokes powerful emotions. One can not stop marveling at the architecture and its magnificence. Same goes for its namesake hotel brand- The Taj Hotels. Each time one stays at a Taj property, as a guest you cannot stop appreciating the impeccable hospitality and charm of the hotel.
So when the (re-branded) Taj Hotel & Convention Centre opened its doors in the city of Taj Mahal- Agra, I had to plan a weekend trip to experience all the Tajness. On a Sunday I reached the hotel in three hours from Delhi with my toddler in tow.
I was bowled over by the welcome not because there was traditional aarti and welcome drink before I was escorted to my suite, but because my son got a grand welcome with hotel staff addressing him by his first name. The joy of checking into a luxury hotel lies in these finer details.
Another surprise waited for us in our spacious luxe suite. A welcome amenity addressed to my son and chocolates with our pictures. Our suite located in the new luxury wing of the hotel was a sheer delight with its plush bathroom, minimalistic interiors and a well equipped living room.
When you are staying the Taj Hotel you can choose to stay in a suite, room or room that offers view of the Taj Mahal. The view is something not many hotels can boast about in Agra.
I have stayed at this hotel in its previous avatar. The food was good then too, but it has definitely gone a notch up now. The all day dining restaurant Palato has elaborate buffet menu and an al a-carte menu serving food that would please Indian and international guests alike.
Its the Indian restaurant Daawat-E-Nawaab that truly offers a superior gastronomical experience. It is open only for dinner and serves meals that are fit for Royals. While there is al a carte option, if you want to experience the glory of this restaurant you can go for the curated Nawabi meal. Must try the galouti kebabs, gosht biryani and khajoor ki kheer for desserts.
In the evenings you have the option of unwinding at the Liquid Lounge or live the high life at the rooftop club – Infini. With its infinity pool overlooking the Taj Mahal, Infini is an attraction for locals and guests. The incredible ambience can give any modern city club a run for its money!
There is never a dull moment at the this hotel. Not even for my three-year old restless explorer. The kids club is spacious and has trained staff that goes extra mile to make kids happy. I spent more time at the kids club than exploring the old city that has a story in every nook and corner. For guests there is a shopping arcade, gym, spa and two swimming pools, of which the infinity pool overlooks the Taj Mahal.
The hotel arranged our visit to the Taj Mahal for us with an experienced guide. This wonder of the world is walkable from the hotel, making it a preferred choice of tourists.
Before checking out, I made sure I spend some time alone rejuvenating and relaxing. So I hit the spa for a swedish massage.
Taj Hotel & Convention Centre is a perfect hotel whether you are looking for quick weekend getaway or organizing a team event or a destination wedding. With over 40000 square Feet of banqueting space options for events venue galore.
Why it truly stands out as a hotel is because of its impeccable service and the fact that the man at its helm – Paritosh Ladhani, is a passionate entrepreneur who has ensured that every guest goes back with happy memories.
